This is a very pretty 75-year-old Japanese post card featuring a picture of a crane flying over the stylized waves typical in Japanese design. Behind the crane is a bright golden sun. The card measures 6” by 4” and is in remarkably good condition. Our thanks to Charles Paik for this translation – “ The five characters at the bottom on picture side say "Meiji New Years card". On the Address side they read - Right line vertical = address of a recipient; Center = Recipient's name; Left two lines = Sender's name and address. Picture side - Top three characters= Stone block print; Vertical lines = A Japanese poem celebrating a New Year." |
