This is a beautiful cast bronze plaque in a wooden stand with a design in low relief. The design is that of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion, with two attendants at her side. On the reverse are a number of sutras - many of which are the Chinese characters for Buddha. The plaque is supported by a sturdy wooden stand with a wide stance that has a slot into which the plaque is placed. The plaques measures 6 1/4" high and is4 3/8" wide. The stand is 4 1/2" high. The piece is in excellent condition with fine early patina. We date it to some time in the late Qing dynasty - early 1800s to 1900. |
