A Japanese Studio Vase Taisho/Showa
This is a striking Japanese studio vase the main body is almost globular shape- then it tapers to a narrow neck and then flares out to wide thick rim. The underglaze is a dark chocolate color. At the shoulder the glaze is lighter almost a milk chocolate that has five black rings encircling the top of the vase. Then before straightening out to the vertical rim, the brown glaze goes back to the darker brown.

The upper shoulder and the main body of the vase has a design of interlocking medium green drip glazes almost a dark turquoise green. The bottom rim is plain brown- and shows signs of use. The inside of the vase has the same brown and medium green design as the body. The vase measures 5 high and is 4 diameter at its widest. It is in excellent condition. It is not signed. We date to somewhere between the 1920s and the 1950s Taisho to Showa period.
