EGYPTIAN ALABASTER FIGURE OF A BABOON, Old kingdom, 2500 BC.
MEASUREMENTS: High: 8 cm - Width: 6,5 cm.
CONDITION: Head is missing as shown, other wise intact.
LITERATURE: This exquisite figure of a baboon was carved out of a small block of alabaster, probably represents the god TOTH as a baboon. (This is a remarkable representation of the god of knowledge and patron of the scribes. Thoth was universally revered in the Old Kingdom).
