This is a very interesting scarab. The scarab is probably commemorative from the
Late Period for Menes (Narmer), the founder of the 1st Dynasty and accordingly
the 1st Pharaoh of a unified Egypt.

The Ring with the scarab was bought 1934 from the dealer Mohamed M. El-Gabry
in Cairo near the Shepherd’s Hotel. He had the permission from The Egyptian Museum

This is an ancient Egyptian steatite scarab, which is inscribed on the back with a
squatting baboon (Thoth) and the hieroglyphics of the throne name of Rameses II:
User-Maat-Re-setep-en-Re (The justice of Re is powerful - chosen of Re)

The scarab comes with a chain (ca. 50 cm, c. 19.7 inches) and the original box
from Baltinester Bros (Jerusalem), where the chain with scarab pendant was bought in the 50s.
