These three cartonnage fragments have an interesting and old provenance. They come from the Commandeur Marius Cazeneuve (1839-1913, he was a French stage magician,
who became a close friend of the queen of Madagascar, Ranavalona III) collection;
he got a lot of antiquities from his friend, the noted Egyptologist and Director of the

This is a very rare Egyptian amulet in the form of a hare.
The amulet is mounted on a wooden 1920’s collectors base which is inscribed:
„Hare, sacred to Osiris“.
It is a seldom opportunity to find an amulet in this good quality and then also attached
to such an old stand.

This is a finely engraved haematite cylinder seal. The seal is engraved with the sun-god Shamash, his foot resting on a small mountain, carrying the saw-weapon in his right hand, a worshipper approaches, wearing a fringed rope.
A suppliant goddess stands behind the sun-god Shamash, wearing a flounced robe, her hands raised in adoration.

The whole throne, supported by two stringing lions, is well preserved. The lions are extremely fine
and you can see every detail. Dating is between Third Intermediate Period to Late Period.
I think it looks a little bit Nubian, than it is 25th Dynasty. I can not find any parallel of a
comparable faience throne, so it has to be extremely rare.

This is a rare and large ovoid bead which is pierced longitudinally. The top has a rounded surface inscribed with the cartouche of Shabaka „Amen Meri Nefer-Ka-Ra“ and below the expression „living forever“. On the flat side of the bead is an old tag attached
which is inscribed „Meri Amen - Nefer Ka-Ra (Shabaka) (XXV Dyn) Live for ever - 1808“
