A fine agate snuff bottle of flattened ovoid form with a short cylindrical neck and supported on a raised foot rim with a recessed base, the beige material well hollowed and lightly carved along a darker inclusion to reveal 5 bats (wufu) and a double gourd, the reverse with ink-play like markings, 1780-1860.

A small jade seal of squared section with openwork carving of a sinuous qilong; the base with 6 characters in Zhuanshu (seal script) “Tai Shi Bo Ping Hou Yin” (seal of Taishi Marquis Boping); the material (nephrite) of fairly even grayish white colour.

“Taishi” was the official title of Advisor to the Crown Prince while Boping was a county established in the Han dynasty (206 BC–220 AD).
