An archaistic nephrite (jade) disc, bi, carved on both sides with raised “grain pattern,” the ex- tremities with raised ridges, the material of grayish white colour with extensive russet staining from burial or possibly induced and the surface with a soft polish from handling. A small jade seal of squared section with openwork carving of a sinuous qilong; the base with 6 characters in Zhuanshu (seal script) “Tai Shi Bo Ping Hou Yin” (seal of Taishi Marquis Boping); the material (nephrite) of fairly even grayish white colour.

“Taishi” was the official title of Advisor to the Crown Prince while Boping was a county established in the Han dynasty (206 BC–220 AD).
