A fine and large 19th century Chinese Canton enameled covered box, the metal based circular box and cover exquisitely painted with lotus flowers and alternating "double-happiness" characters enameled in iron-red with edges highlighted in gilt, surrounded allover with dense and colorful leafy scroll work against blue ground, top of the cover finely painted with five bats encircling a "shou" symbol, the rims with bands of "ruyi", the low circular foot enameled with flowering scroll below a band of lotus lappets around the base, interior and underside all enameled white. (Wooden stand not included)

DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th century.

MARK : no mark or signature.

SIZE : approximately 9 1/4" (23.5 cm) diameter.

CONDITION : both the box and cover are in perfect condition, minor enamel wear around the rims and a few insignificant enamel hairlines only. No other damage or repair noted.
