A fine and large 17th / early 18th century Kangxi period Chinese blue and white porcelain bowl, the delicately potted deep bowl with wide everted rim, finely painted around the body in deep and strong underglazed cobalt-blue with a continuous scene of figures and garden setting, the outside rim decorated with the prunus flower reserved on cracked-ice ground, center of the bowl painted with a roundel containing a scholar resting on a rock with distant scene of a sailing boat, the inside rim painted with “ruyi” and shaped cartouches containing flowering branches, base glazed white bearing a square seal mark within double concentric circles. DATE : Chinese, early Qing Dynasty, Kangxi period (1662 – 1722).
MARK : indecipherable underglazed-blue square seal mark within double circles on base.
SIZE : approximately 3 7/8" (10 cm) high; 8" (20.4 cm) diameter.
CONDITION : in immaculate condition, some tiny production glaze fritting around the edge of top rim as expected; a small production fault underglazed hairline to the outside foot rim mentioned for accuracy only. No other damage or repair noted.
