A fine and very rare 19th century antique Chinese silver-inlaid iron scholar's brush pot, the heavy cylindrical vessel finely and intricately worked in silver wires with three panels where each containing two ladies in a garden scene, a band of stiff-leaves encircling the foot, the metal of rich chocolate-brown tone with fine natural patina, base of the pot bearing a Qianlong reign mark also inlaid in silver. (Wooden stand not included).
DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, 19th century.
MARK : silver-inlaid six-character Qianlong seal mark within double-squares on base.
SIZE : approximately 6 1/8" (15.5 cm) high; about 4" (10.2 cm) top diameter.
CONDITION : in perfect original condition, small production casting flaws; minor age wear and abrasion to metal; abrasion to center of base only. No damage or repair noted.
