A small 19th century Tongzhi mark and period Chinese famille-rose scholar's porcelain paint palette, of circular form with an "S" shaped divider simulating the Daoist "yinyang" symbol, interior decorated with sprays of flowering branches with the rim dressed in brown, reverse painted with three flower scrolls, the base bears the seal mark of Tongzhi in iron-red and of the period. DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, mark and period of Tongzhi (1862 - 1874).
MARK : iron-red six-character Tongzhi seal mark within double-square on base.
SIZE : approximately 1" (2.5 cm) high, 4 1/8" (10.5 cm) diameter.
CONDITION : in excellent condition with minor enamel wear, two tiny production glaze nibs to the edge of the "S" shape rim, and small amount of production grit adhesion to the foot rim noted for accuracy only. No chips, no cracks, and no repairs.
