A very fine and rare 18th century Qianlong mark and period Chinese Imperial ruby-red Beijing / Peking glass bowl, of well-rounded form with a gently everted rim and shallow foot, the sides superbly carved with birds perched amidst flowering branches, of fine even ruby-red color and good translucency, the slightly concaved base with the wheel-cut four-character Qianlong reign mark and of the period. (Wooden stand not included).
REFERENCE : An almost identical red glass bowl with similar theme and same size, dated to the 18th century but lacking the reign mark, from the collection of Professor and Mrs. P. H. Plesch, was included in the "Exhibition of Chinese Jewellery and Glass" by Spink & Son Ltd, London 1989 (see last image).
DATE : Chinese, Qing Dynasty, mark and period of Qianlong (1736 – 1795).
MARK : wheel-cut four-character Qianlong mark within square on base.
SIZE : approximately 2 3/4" (7 cm) high, 6 1/8" (15.4 cm) diameter.
CONDITION : perfect condition, one tiny manufacturing flaw to foot rim noted for accuracy only. No cracks, no chips or any other damages, and no repairs.
