| A solitary pine heavily laden with snow interwoven with the upper reaches of a flowering plum tree. Patches of gold flecks and mica embedded in the white gofun give the painting a lovely reflective quality. The painting dates to the early to mid 20th century. It is in good condition with slight losses of gofun and light foxing in the upper half. The mounting is original and the painting is complete with its original titled storage box. 'Rosho Ryosetsu' - 'Heavy snow on an old pine'. The work is signed and sealed Shunsui, a relatively common artists name of the time. Perhaps a student of Kikuchi Hobun born in 1880. The scroll measures 78 by 19 inches. The image measures 47 by 14 inches. | |||||||||||||
