A very charming studio pottery master Kogo, large incense container for tea ceremony, in the form of a rabbit. Masterfully glazed in Temmoku style with blue, green, red, and white overglaze accents. Fine old 19th century E-Shino footed shallow bowl or plate for sweets served during the Kaiseki meal at a tea ceremony, Chanoyu. Robustly painted in underglaze blue, with floral rim design, drying nets and flying birds in the center. Nice thick glaze drips and iron red can be seen on the back side. Characteristic E-Shino crazing, red scorch marks and tiny pin holes in the glaze can be seen throughout. 8 4/4 inches in diameter and 2 inches high.
