Faience amulet. Osirian Triad: Isis and Nephthys flanking Horus as a child, Harpokrates. 26th Dynasty, 688-525 BC. Isis, the mother of Horus, and her sister Nephthys, protected Horus from his uncle Set, who sought to kill him. They were thus seen as protectors of the mummy, and these small triad amulets were placed on the lower torso. Undrilled. 25 x 18 mm. 1" x 5/8". From a Chicago 'Gold Coast' collection, inherited from an old Boston estate. Details to purchaser.
