Mexcala stone figure. Rio Balsas river valley, Guerrero. Late Pre-Classic, 300 BC - 250 AD. 5 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 2 3/4". 1 lb. 6 oz. Great surface with traces of red pigment. Damage with loss to the front of figure's headdress. Seated figures are thought to represent elite or deified personages, and make up only 2% of total human sculptures from this area.
