Tzintzuntzan, Michoacan. Post-Classic, 900 - 1400 AD. Red and white on buff, with areas of resist decoration on the white between the red painted zoomorphs (one can make out a pelican, a deer, and what may be a fish) and also on the plain burnished exterior. The technique employs a resist to the darkening caused by oxidizing during firing. A very similar bowl is at the Snite Museum at the Univ. of Notre Dame. Cracked and glued. 3" x 8 1/2" diameter, 1 lb. 4 oz.
