19th Century, Qajar Dynasty Iranian cobalt blue enameled and engraved glass Nargile or hookah base, with three portraits of Naser Al-Din Shah Qajar, King of Iran from 1848 - 1896. He was a dictatorial reformer who traveled through Europe and welcomed Western influences; including telegraph and postal services, Western style education, photography, and newspapers. He was assassinated. 11 1/2" x 6" diameter at base. 2" interior diameter at opening for receiving pipe apparatus. 2 lb. 8 oz.
