A cast-iron singing bowl - Kangxi mark & period
Singing bowl from a Taoist temple, Shanxi province. The inscription reads that it was made during Kangxi's 56 year of reign (1716) in the nineth month. Except for the beaded rim there it is undecorated. Superficial oxidation on the outside, accumulation of dirt on the inside. Very clear and long sound. The three holes are typical for both cast-iron singing bowls as well as bells. It must have something to do with the sound characteristics of the material. Dim.: diameter 21cm, height 12,5cm. Reduced in price from 675 euro to 525 euro.
