| A rare lacquered so called 'sweet meat' box, decorated in 'miaojin' technique, with 8 dishes. Late Ming, circa 1600. 'Miaojin' means 'traced in gold' and refers to the golden lines with which a polychrome decoration in lacquer was highlighted. Though much of the gold has worn of, the decoration on the lid of the box is still in a relatively good condition and untouched. Material: lacquer on textile on wood. Old repairs with iron reinforcements at the corners of the lid. Damage to legs and rims. Damage to two of the eight dishes. All painted details are original and have not been retouched as is often the case. Dim.: LxDxH 42x22x8 cm. Reduced in price from 3.200 euro to 2.400 euro | |||||||||||||||
