| A headhunters sword from the Dayak people, eastern part of the Indonesian part of Borneo, Kalimantan. The short size implicates it's a child's version of an adult sword. The carving on the deer stag grip -stylized dragon heads- means it belonged to the elite upper class of one of the tribes that lived along the Mahakam river. In this case probably Kayan people. Lenght without scabbard 53,5cm. Simple blade but good quality handle with intricate carving and nice rattan weaving. The scabbard is complete with loop-belt but lacking the side knife. Ex. Paul Haig Collection. Reduced in price from 725 euro to 600 euro. | ||||||||||||||
