| A single armchair from Shanxi province, Ming period, late 16th-early 17th century. Softwood with dark purple lacquer. A more recent brown colour has been taken off with chemicals. Especially at the back this has caused some damage to the original lacquer. There are minor repairs to the apron on one side (see: pictures 3,4,5). In good original condition with no other repairs. Dim.: WxDxH 58x45,5x115cm. The strong s-shape of the backrest and the fibre coating under the seat are typical for the period. Waxed, not re-lacquered. | |||||||||||||||
