An exceptional mask made from root wood or possibly an insect nest. The open structure of the material is hard to determine but it is wood-like and I prefer to name it root wood. It is strongly darkened from smoke and must have hung in a house as a protector, much like the mushroom masks with the Rai people. Because of this relationship it could be Rai or possibly Limbu. There's some wear at the back and a worn spot on one cheek but overall it is in fine condition. Dim.: WxDxH 19x22x10cm Weight 770gr
