A so called "phurba", a shaman's ritual wooden dagger from the Middle Hills of Nepal. Early 20th C., length 18,5cm. The top part consists of three faces crowned by a mythical animal with the tail swung over its back. The middle part shows fine engraved lines and patterns. The lower part shows intertwined lines, a barely discernible highly stylized Makara head and the shaman's symbols; sun, moon and star and a bow and arrow with an unknown symbol. Condition: patina and smooth wear from use, small losses from the sides of the triangular tip from use. Nice example in good condition.
