Two panels from the lower part of a semi formal dragon robe. Silk brocade, Yongzheng period, ca. 1725. The yellow ground points to the imperial circle. It must have belonged to somebody from the family of the Emperor. Somebody not worthy to wear the 5 clawed long but important and close enough to the emperor to wear his colour, likely a prince or princess. Mounted on blue cotton on foam-board. Dim.: 68x85cm each (mounted) A robe of exactly the same fabric is published in R. Jacobsen, Imperial Silks - Ch'ing Dynasty Textiles in the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Pl. 38, Acc.no. 42.8.6
