| With Biographical Sketch of the Artist By Schiichi Tajima Published by: The Kwansai Photograph Company Osaka, Japan, 1904. The Hardboard, green silk –covered folio (48.5 x 34 cm), has beveled edges. The Lettering on the cover is Gilt, with the Capitals in Red on decorative motif of snow on branches; the spine has a decorative pattern. The volume is tied with cerise/purple silk cord. All edges are Gilt finished. The front and end papers are decorated with stylized bird and river with reeds motifs. The text on the limitation statement indicates a printing of 2,000 copies, this particular copy being No: 35. There are 30 plates (comprising of six color woodblock plates and 24 black and white collotype plates), the author includes a thank you note to the Imperial Household for having received permission to “take photographs on the set of Kakemono, apparently owned by them. The 3 pages of text, in English, considers the trajectory of the artist from “a family of a poor green grocer” to the heights of being “Now treasured by the Imperial Household” High quality heavy paper stock paper is used throughout, and only one side of each page has been printed on. The color woodblock plates have been tipped in to the page, whilst the collotype plates have been printed directly on the page. Each of the 30 plates is the same size - 38 x 19 cm, and the list (see photo) has the added actual size information. The Volume comes in a folding Triptych case of rough Hessian/Straw Silk texture with Ivory stays.
