RIEMERSCHMID Brandy Flask / Germany 1908
Brandy flask designed by Richard Riemerschmid, around 1908. Relief prunts and wavy line decor. Honey-brown (kölnisch braun) salt-glazed earthenware. 6.5" ht x 5.75" dia. Marks: Reinhold Merkelbach, Grenzhausen on behalf of the company Anton Riemerschmid, Munich, incised stamp. Excellent condition.

Richard RIEMERSCHMID (Munich 1868-1957 Munich)
German architect, craftsman and painter. Riemerschmid was one of the leading figures in German Jugendstil. His oeuvre includes interiors, glassware, fabrics, and wallpapers, as well as numerous buildings. Founding member of the Vereinigte Werkstatten for Kunst im Handwerk (Associated Workshops for Art in Handicraft). Gold Medal at the Paris World Exposition of 1900 for his "Room for an Art Lover".
