Theodor BOGLER Vase | Germany 1950s
Playful vase with alternating bands of yellow and green arch shaped designs, over red and white glazes. 2.75" ht (7cm). Maria Laach label intact. Excellent.

P.Theodor BOGLER (1897 Hofgeismar - 1968 Maria Laach)
Theodor Bogler was one of the first students to enroll at the Bauhaus in 1919. From 1920 he trained in the ceramics workshop in Dornburg, near Weimar, an annex of the Bauhaus school. From 1923 to 1924 Bogler ran the workshop with Otto Lindig and encouraged the production of industrial designs. He designed prototypes for mass production, such as a coffee machine for the Aelteste Volkstedter porcelain factory. In 1925, he became the artistic director of the Velten-Vordam factory. He entered the Benedictine Abby of Maria Laach in 1927 and was ordained as a priest in 1932. He produced designs for Hedwig Bollhagen's HB-Werkstatten in Marwitz from 1934 to 1938, and for the Majolika factory in Karlsruhe from 1936 to 1948. (Phillips de Pury & Luxembourg)
