| This is a set of (5) beautiful Antique leather bound books, copyright 1867, by the noted author Washington Irving. These books are part of a complete work of Irving's entitled Irving's Works. Irving was an American author, essayist, biographer and historian. He is perhaps best known for his book The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon Gent (also known as Sketch-Book) in which appears his beloved short stories, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "Rip Van Winkle". Included in this lovely set of (5) books is Irving’s Works 10. Bonneville’s Adventures ; Irving’s Works 11. Oliver Goldsmith; Irving’s Works 12. Mahomet VOL. 1; Irving’s Works 13. Mahomet VOL II.; Irving’s Works 14. Conquest of Granada. Each of these books contain a beautiful steel engraving on (2) pages preceding the title page. This set of books is in very good condition. All hinges are securely attached. Some rubs, light usage wear, mostly external rubs/wear. Tightly bound and very fresh internally. No bookplates but each book contains the handwritten owner’s name “Mrs. Pitt Kellogg.” (To the best of my ability to read the handwriting.) Approximate Size: 5 ¼” W x 7 ½” L | ||
