Beautiful Old Coral and Coin Trade Necklace 1910s
This interesting piece was sold to me as a trade necklace. I'm not certain if it was made here or came from the Spanish folks on the way north for trading with the natives. The coral is beautiful, and all of the holes of the coins are pressed out with a tool, not machine drilled. Coins on the cluster centerpiece are form 1878 to 1906. The newest coin is from 1910. All of the coins except the center one, it is a Mexican coin 1906, are from Guatemala. Beautiful hand made silver beads and pieces from old coins are strung into the necklace. There is a coin in the necklace that is a ONE SHILLING from Britannia 1859. I have a similar necklace for sale at Trocadero stock # 108. Necklace has no clasp but if you would stretch it out the length is 18 inches on each side or a total of 36 inches.
