In the form of a royal gong, this pendant would have been displayed at funerals. This piece is beautifully and finely carved with a nice worn patina indicating decades of use. See African Art Western Eyes by Susan Vogel 1997 pg 194 for reference. The surfaces are curved and concave or convex, a very difficult technique. 5 3/4" by 2 1/2". From Taylor A. Dale and an old Belgian collection.
