This is a beautiful item that was used for decades before being collected in the field in the 1980's. Note the wear on the handle and the fine encrusted patina. Fine incised carving over the entire piece, and the handle looks like an animal gripping the pail. About 11" tall, I assume used to milk the yak herd. I wish I could take better pictures, it is much nicer in person.

This is a very fine example of kodogu. Beautifully and finely rendered sweet fish swimming in a stream. Shibuichi or possibly copper with gold highlights. Near mint condition. There is a 3 kanji inscription on the back that seems to refer to evening calm. It is signed Seizui possibly for Hamano Seizui 1695 to 1769, the period and the school look correct to me. Any further information would be welcome. 17.5 x 1.1 x .3 cm. Much nicer than the pictures with excellent detail.

A very nicely made fuchi made from shakudo depicting a chrysanthemum and a buddhist drum mugyoku. There is an inscription on the drum that looks like it may read shinzan ken. Drum is copper with gold and silver highlights, very nice detail ( not silver fangs on dragons ). 3.4cm x 2.2 cm x 1.1cm shitodome are in place. excellent condition with only minor wear. Looks to be mid edo.

This fine Hopi Manta is nicer than my poor pictures show. It is made from natural brown homespun wool, much of which is over dyed with indigo. There is some commercial yarn used in the tassels and over weave parts as well. In near mint condition, there is slight wear at the corners. It was literally caked with dirt when I got it, I had to wash it to make sure it would not rot! fine diamond patterns in the top and bottom. circa 1910, possibly earlier...

Nice older ( about 100 years old ) bamboo basket with a fine dark patina. Somewhat dirty, I will leave cleaning to the buyer, also somewhat misshapen, otherwise very good condition, no breaks or missing pieces. See pictures. Comes with tin cup ( has plastic cup inside -- note holes in tin cup ). About 9 1/2" tall by about 6 1/2" wide. For Japanese flower arrangements, nice wabi sabi feel, would work well for informal tea ceremony.

Very fine carving and typical of this artists work see image 5 from the international Netsuke Journal with photo of the work of Jugyoku Ryukosai. Boxwood, about 1 5/8" long by 1 1/8" tall, excellent condition, some wear to high points and himotoshi. Old label on bottom " 526" ex. Bushell collection...

A fine and rare small aboriginal bowl. These coolamon were also used for digging and even as cradles for infants. This piece is well over 100 years old and appears to be made using stone tools. Rich patina and signs of use for digging, etc. Patina is much nicer than images show. About 13" long.

This fine and very old piece came with a mask that was deaccessioned from the Linden Museum. The mask was collected by Dr. Bassler in 1899, and the necklace was collected at the same time. Approximately 20" long, fine patina from decades of use. there is one loose spot in the middle of the piece, otherwise in excellent old condition.

Fine and very old stone carved pre-contact ceremonial adze from the Boiken people who live near the Prince Alexander Mountains in Papua New Guinea. It also has the original clam shell blade. Carved with 2 powerful ancestor totem faces on the and the unusual feature of several ancestor faces on teh handle. 24" long, I did have to use a fixative on the piece to keep the heavily encrusted patina from falling off other than that no restorations or repairs. Dates to about 1900, ex...

Carved from hard dense wood, this large ( 28" long ) shield has an unusual design. It was collected in the area of Roebourne in Pilbarra in the 1950's. It is finely incised on teh back and the front ( incising is filled with ochre and lime on the front so difficult to see in pictures ), There is minor damage and wear but overall very good condition, fine patina especially on the back indicating many decades of use.

A beautifully simple and rare pair of Chinese Longquan porcelain pottery with celadon glaze octagonal tea cup pair. These are of the light color porcelain ceramic body variety with a fenqing powdery blue-green type thick glaze, no crackle. The octagonal shape is quite rare and highly desirable, excellent condition, no chips or cracks. About 8 cm wide by 5 cm tall. Circa 1200 AD.
