Kato Kageyaki XII e Shino chawan tea bowl
This branch of the Kato family has been making Mino pottery for about 400 years! Kagayaki ( 1899 to 1972 ) was the 12th of his lineage and was named Gifu Intangible Cultural Property ( one step below living national treasure ) in 1958. This chawan is a fine example of his work. Feels great in the hands with its thick rich glaze and just enough drawing to make it interesting. On the large side at 5" diameter. In signed box.
