| This is a find old drum from the Amphlett Island group in the Massim district of Papua New Guinea. Massim is better known for the Trobriand islands. The skin is newer but the drum itself dates from pre-WWII ( world war two ), and shows excellent wear and patina from extensive use. There is a repaired crack at the bottom. Shows some use of non-metal tools also, and could be older. About 35 inches ( 91 cm tall ). Nice impressive piece of authentic art from the pacific islands. | ||
