| This is a beautiful and fairly large tsubo or jar by the well known Kato Kenji. There are actually two potters by this name who are equally well known one who tend to do iron glazes ( temmoku ) and Shino ( this guy ) and the other who does a wonderful rakka or Persian blue. This tsubo is painted in free style leaves and branches similar to Hamada Shoji. Beautiful rich deep glaze, the images really do not do it justice. About 9 1/2" tall, excellent condition signed box. | ||
