| Trefoil lipped oinochoe with a high handle slightly arched on top. The flat shoulder is decorated with rays in applied red, a downward wave pattern and a laurel wreath with berries go around the ovoid body. The skilful modeling, together with the brilliant black glaze, orientate on more expensive jugs made in metal. For a related item cf. no. 192 in: John W. Hayes. Greek and Italian Black-Gloss Wares and Related Wares in the Royal Ontario Museum. Toronto 1984. Ceramic. Apulian, 400-350 BC. H. 14.8 cm (5.8 in). Pristine quality and condition. Brilliant black glaze and superb preservation of the applied red color. Edge of the foot peeled off, otherwise intact. Swiss private collection (Data will be disclosed to the buyer) | ||
