| Etruscan impasto ware jar of globular shape standing on a flat base. Two eyebrow-like semicircles applied just below the straight rim. May be an early version of the so called ‘Sovana’ cooking pot series. For related jars cf. B18 and B65, p. 42 in: John W. Hayes. Etruscan and Italic Pottery in the Royal Ontario Museum. Toronto 1985. Ceramic. Etruscan, 7th century BC. H. 8.8 cm (3.46 in), D. around the belly 10 cm (3.93 in). Intact and of excellent condition. Hand modeled with fine irregular striations from the burnishing process. Root marks. Swiss private collection (data will be provided to the buyer) | ||
