A pair of large handles from a bronze vessel showing elaborate palmette attachments with small sideward leafs.
Finely chiselled palmettes emerging from a central core over volutes. Bronze rivets and remains of solder under the attachments.
The handholds with a ridged bulge on the outer side and further bulges at the join to the terminals.
Etruscan or Italic, ca. 5th/4th century BC.
L. 18.1 cm and 18.7 cm (7.1 and 7.4 in), H. 8 cm (3.1 in).
Hollow cast handles, one corroded to show the core and part of a lead filling.
One sideward leaf on each handle missing. Pale green patina darkened in places.
