Apulian kylix of the ‘Palmette Cross’-type, the shallow bowl with four stamped palmettes and linking arcs at center.
The inside rim is offset from the floor as usual with cups dating to the 4th century BC. For a related cup cf. item no. 103 in: John W. Hayes. Greek and Italian Black-Gloss Wares and Related Wares in the Royal Ontario Museum. Toronto 1984. Ceramic Greek, Apulian, mid 4th Century BC. D. 15.5 cm (6.1 in) W. over handles 21 cm (8.25 in) Excellent condition with brilliant black glaze. One shard reattached, a missing chip restored. Traces of another cup’s foot inside the floor.
