Etruscan handmade jar of globular shape standing on a flat base. Two eyebrow-like semicircles applied just below the straight rim.
The object may be an early version of the so called ‘Sovana’ cooking pot series. For related jars cf. B18 and B65, p. 42 in: John W. Hayes. Etruscan and Italic Pottery in the Royal Ontario Museum. Toronto 1985.

Intact and of excellent condition. Hand modeled with fine irregular striations from the burnishing process. Root marks.
Swiss private collection, by descent. In family possession before 1968 (data to the buyer).
