| Red-figure lekythos attributed to the Eretria Painter. The body is decorated with two muses facing each other. The woman on the right is holding a lyre with a long red ribbon. Between the muses an inscription reading KAL(I)OPA. Kaliope, daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, was the muse of epic poetry. This is the second known vase of the Eretria Painter while he was active in the workshop of the Achilles Painter. Greek, from Athens, circa 430 BC. H. 27.5 cm (10.8 in). Good quality and condition with brilliant black glaze. Reconstituted from large fragments. Part of the left body and of the meander ground line splintered off and restored.
