| Etruscan bucchero ware kantharos of canonical shape with twin high-swung strap handles and a pedestal foot. A dented ridge at the join to the straight wall. A couple of tiny grooves along the rim. This is a kantharos of the standard coastal type known from workshops in the Etruscan cities of Vulci and Cerveteri; Rasmussen’s type 3e. For similar kantharoi cf. items 240-242 in: Ines Jucker. Italy of the Etruscans. Mainz 1991. Ceramic. Etruscan, circa 600 BC. H. handle 12.2 cm (4.8 in),H. rim 7.7 cm (3 in),D. 12.5 cm (4.9 in). Good quality, carefully polished surface.
