| This Fabulous Oil on Canvas, ,"Young Flower Vendor", c1900 signed Josef Wilhelm Sühs is in Excellent Condition. Josef Wilhelm Sühs, (1864-1938), well listed German Artist whose works are a reflection of the period of the Grand Tour in the Late 19th Century. The transportation advances resulting in the flood of tourism, created demand for artists such as Sühs to remind the travelers of their sojourns abroad. He was an academically trained artist who excelled at painting Venetian genere scenes. Due to the Austrian Rule during that period it was not unusual for Germans such as Sühs to feel at home in Venice. The sentimentality of the Victorian era demanded sweet pictures with human interest and emotional appeal, this lovely painting exemplifies that very type of pleasing genere scene.
