Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this very rare and impressive pair of legs from an Egyptian funerary bed. Each leg is a massive, solid piece of Egyptian architecture measuring 21" in height, in addition to the custom mount for the pair. Each leg is brightly painted with a yellow ochre background with designs in red and black. The top of each leg is adorned with the head of a protective lion with facial features and mane in red pigment. A pair of legs such as these are a rare find on the market today and are important pieces of Egyptian funerary equipment. Egyptian, Ptolemaic Period, 350 - 50 B.C. Provenance provided to the purchaser.
