Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this extremely rare Egyptian Third Intermediate Period cartonnage mask. This mask is much earlier than most masks available on the market and is for a woman in the Third Intermediate Period. Unlike masks from later periods, this mask is made in the Third Intermediate Period style with a wooden face! The wooden face is surrounded and attached to the cartonnage and blends very well with the cartonange itself. The mask features a wide feathered headdress in the style found in areas such as Lahun. The mask is in fragile condition due to its age, however this is an extremely rare opportunity to own one of the earlier and rarer cartonnage masks available. From a collection Glasgow, U.K., to a collector in the United States. The mask measures an impressive 16.5" tall by 12" wide. Egypt. Third Intermediate Period, 1,070 - 900 B.C.
