| Relics of the Nile is very pleased to present this exquisite mask for an ancient Egyptian, possibly a priest. The mask is in excellent condition and measures an extremely impressive 11.25" in height, 7" in width! This is a very interesting shape with a long and slender face. All facial features are wonderfully crafted with the headcloth still presented in original pigment of dark blue. The eyes, nose, and lips are also beautifully depicted. The face exhibits almond-shaped eyes, as well as very detailed lids and pupils. The piece is all original with no restoration. The peg holes are clearly seen and there is little chipping to the piece itself. A very sizable and thick piece that was once placed on the outside of the sarcophagus. A piece of this size is important because of the immense expense of wood in Egypt. Sturdy. Egypt. Late Dynastic, 664 - 343 B.C. | ||
