Relics of the Nile is thrilled to present this outstanding ancient Egyptian coffin lid. This brilliant artifact has a cedar wood frame with a gesso of papyrus coating and forms a brilliant display. The front illustrates excellent facial features, the nemes headcloth, as well as the traditional beaded collar. The four Sons of Horus stand above a beautifully designed winged scarab, which is surrounded on each corner by an Eye of Horus to protect it from all angles. Below, Anubis stands watch over a register of hieroglyphics with the god Horus represented on each side. This is a wonderful large example that is getting more difficult to find. Egyptian, 25th Dynasty (752 - 664 B.C).
