Beautiful Egyptian Shrine Panel W/Geometric Design!

Relics of the Nile is very pleased to present this superb ancient Egyptian panel. This panel comes from a late period canopic box or Ptah-Sokar-Osiris shrine and still displays tremendous color and design. The panel is highlighted in brilliant white, blue, red, yellow, and brown. This piece comes from the side of the canopic or ushabti box originally created in shrine form. The front of the piece depicts a geometric design that was favored in the late period - Ptolemaic period and forms a sort of ancient checkerboard pattern. The design remains clear with little wear due to age, and the piece overall remains in excellent condition. The panel still shows a very nice color and significant portions of the original gesso on the reverse as well as the original dowels on the sides. This piece measures a nice 3" and displays very nicely. Egypt, Ptolemaic Period, 350 - 50 B.C. For an example of similar complete box, please see MFA 98.1128
