Relics of the Nile is very pleased to present this superb rare ancient Egyptian ushabti. This ushabti remains in choice condition and the body is completely intact. The facial features on this piece are choice and the terracotta color is very solid with traces of the original black pigment remaining, especially evident where the flail is depicted on the front of the ushabti. It is a wonderful change of pace from the more common faience ushabti. The facial features are presented with the Nemes headcloth adorning the head. Even the sulk and hoe (agricultural instruments used to do work in the afterlife) are depicted in striking beauty in the front of the piece. The ushabti remains choice condition with normal minor wear that does not detract. The piece itself measures a nice 2 5/8" in height. The piece dates from the New Kingdom (Ca. 1,300 B.C.). A nice addition to any Egyptian collection.
